St. MARY’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH

WELCOME

Dear Friends,

Whatever the reason you have for coming into this church, we would like to assure you that you are most welcome.

Whether you are preoccupied by your work or by not having a job, by fears for your family, the future of your children or grandchildren, illness or the troubles of this world, or whether you are just happy to pass a few days holiday in the district, God welcomes you with all that makes up your life, your happiness and your problems, your hopes and your fears.

Why not just pray for a few moments ?

Silence opens the way to contemplation, to reflection, to peace and the presence of God.

Dear visitors,

Take the time to admire the calm, the simplicity, the harmony of this church and its neo-baroque style:

« This is the house of God and the gateway to heaven »

From the pastoral council of St Mary’s Church

ANTHEMS TO OUR LADY

Salve Regina

Hail, holy queen, mother of mercy; hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope ! To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, your eyes of mercy towards us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

v. Pray for us, most holy mother of God. r. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

All-powerful, eternal God, by the co-operation of the Holy-Spirit you made ready the body and soul of the glorious Virgin Mother Mary to be a fit dwelling-place for your Son. As we celebrate her memory with joy, grant that through her motherly intercession we may be preserved from evil in this world and from eternal death. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Alma Redemptoris Mater

Loving mother of the Redeemer, open door to heaven and star of the sea, come quickly to the aid of your people, fallen indeed but striving to stand again. To nature’s astonishment you were the mother of your holy Creator without ceasing to be a virgin, and heard from Gabriel that greeting, « Hail » Have pity on us sinners.

v. Blessed are you among women. r. And blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.

O God, who through Mary’s virginal motherhood held out to us new hope of life; grant that we may feel the power of her prayers, since the brought among us the author of life, our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son. Amen.
